About APSECommitteesEducation and Training Committee The Conference and Training Committee is keenly focused to further APSE’s commitment to providing leadership, direction and resources to support membership training and development. Developing and delivering a high quality, premier annual national employment conference and implementing a Supported Employment Professional certification are our two main objectives. Co-Chairs: Employment First Committee The Employment First Committee will work with the national office and state chapters to provide a consistent message and spearhead Employment First efforts. The committee will set standard measures of excellence and determine expected outcomes. In addition they will focus on collaboration building with other organizations as well as establishing and facilitating an Employment First leadership group. Through regional events and during the national conference, the committee will facilitate opportunities for states to become “experts” in leading Employment First efforts and will develop a network of states that can share resources, information, and successes in their Employment First efforts. Co-Chairs: Marketing Committee The Marketing Committee is responsible for promoting the value of employing people with disabilities and to strengthen the viability of APSE. This will be accomplished by passionately informing, educating and teaching the economic value of employing people with disabilities to business leaders and society at large. The Committee will facilitate communication between the National APSE Office, APSE Board, APSE Chapters, employers, public policy makers, and the general public. Our goal is to ensure that the APSE membership is kept informed regarding what is happening on the national, state, and local levels related to the employment of people with disabilities. This includes disseminating information that impacts the employment of individuals with disabilities on the APSE website, emails, APSE Connections and through a quarterly newsletter to the membership. Co-Chairs: Pulic Policy Committee The main function of the public policy committee is to advise APSE's Executive Director and assist in the development and implementation of public policy strategies consistent with APSE's mission and strategic plan. The committee will work in collaboration with APSE's Executive Director to determine recommendations for priorities and direction for APSE's public policy efforts. This committee will, in conjunction with the Executive Director present recommendations to APSE's Executive Board for approval prior to taking action. For the purposes of the committee, public policy will include pertinent legislation and regulations, appointment of officials to key government posts, administrative policies impacting the integration of individuals with disabilities in integrated community employment (including funding policies), and budget allocations.
